The destructive Thomas Fire grew to 90,000 acres in Ventura county, fire officials said late Wednesday.

The wildfire, which started Monday, had stood at 50,000 acres for most of the day and threatened 3,000 buildings. It's 5% contained.

At least 2,000 firefighters tackled flames as the fire spread northeast toward Ojai on Wednesday. The fire has destroyed at least 150 structures.
