Hycean Dreams
NASA's James Webb Space Telescope has spotted an early yet tantalizing piece of evidence that an exoplanet some 120 light years away could be covered in a massive ocean — that's possibly harboring life.

The telescope detected a molecule called dimethyl sulfide (DMS) — which only living organisms can produce, at least here on Earth — on the planet, which is dubbed K2-18 b.

Researchers also identified methane and carbon dioxide in the planet's atmosphere, indicating it could be a "Hycean" planet, one which is covered in an ocean and has a hydrogen-rich atmosphere.

It was first discovered by NASA's K2 mission back in 2015, but only thanks to the James Webb's detailed observations have researchers been able to reveal the presence of these molecules — and the excitement surrounding the discovery is palpable.

LOUISVILLE, Colo. — After years in the making, the world's first commercial space plane, Dream Chaser, will soon be shipped from Louisville, Colorado, to a NASA facility in Ohio.

Denver7 first showed you Dream Chaser and the Sierra Space facility in October 2022. Our crew checked out the finishing touches Monday before the plane makes its way to the Neil Armstrong Test Facility in Sandusky, Ohio, roughly 57 miles west of Cleveland.

The first spacecraft of the Dream Chaser series, Tenacity, is set to launch from the Kennedy Space Center next year.

"There are over 2,000 tiles on this vehicle,” said Sierra Space Chief Safety Officer Angie Wise.

Vesna Vulović, a flight attendantonboard JAT Yugoslav Airlines Flight 367, experienced a harrowing ordeal that would etch her name into the record books and the annals of sheer human resilience.

We’ve heard some wild travel stories in our time — from the man who urinated all over business class to a Chinese time travellerwaxing lyrical mid-flight — but this might just be the strangest to date… On the 26th of January 1972, an ill-fated flight from Stockholm to Belgrade suddenly disintegrated into three pieces, killing everyone om board… except Vesna Vulović.

Plummeting 33,333 feet (10,160 meters; 6.31 miles) without a parachute, Vulović miraculously survived what remains the highest free fall without any safety equipment, as reported by Guinness World Records.

The tragic event unfolded just 46 minutes after takeoff when an explosion in the luggage compartment tore the McDonnell Douglas DC-9 aircraft apart. The rapid decompression caused passengers and crew to be sucked out of the aircraft into the freezing void.

Vulović’s miraculous survival was attributed to her being pinned down by a food cart in the tail end of the fuselage which separated from the rest of the plane. This portion of the aircraft crash-landed in a wooded area near Srbská Kamenice, Czechoslovakia, cushioning Vesna’s impact and increasing her chances of survival.

For the second time in as many weeks, Boeing has made an announcement related, at least in part, to the ongoing development of a powered derivative of the Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) precision-guided bomb family. The company is pitching the Powered Joint Direct Attack Munition (PJDAM) as a flexible and lower-cost cruise missile that can be used to attack targets on land and ones at sea. It could help countries, including the United States, readily boost their stockpiles of stand-off munitions.

Boeing announced earlier today that it had signed a new memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Australia's Ferra Engineering regarding the continued production of pop-out wing kits for the unpowered JDAM Extended Range (JDAM-ER) series. The company said that this deal would also include an "intent to explore applications" for the PJDAM. As currently designed, the PJDAM uses the same wing kit as the JDAM-ER.

This follows an announcement last weekabout another MOU between Boeing and Technical Directions, Inc. (TDI) regarding the 200-pound-thrust-class TDI-J85 turbine engine as a propulsion option for PJDAM. TDI is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, Inc.

One of North America’s oldest helicopter airlines plans to add one of aviation’s newest aircraft designs to its fleet.

Helijet International Inc. on Tuesday announced that it placed firm orders for Beta Technologies’ Alia-250 electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) air taxi, becoming the first Canadian air carrier to purchase such a design. Helijet, Beta’s first commercial customer in Canada, also expects to be the first air carrier to offer eVTOL passenger and cargo services in the country.

The British Columbia-based firm claims to be the largest and longest-standing helicopter airline in North America. As far as scheduled passenger helicopter airlines go, Helijet and New York City-based Blade Urban Air Mobility are the only major regional players. In 2021, Blade partnered with Helijet’s booking platform to expand into Canada.

Once Beta’s Alia is certified and delivered, Helijet plans to add the aircraft to its existing fleet, which is composed of Eurocopter AS350 B2s, Sikorsky S76s, Learjet 31As, and Pilatus PC-12s.

Mentioning Airbus doesn't usually bring the image of sea vessels to mind, but the aerospace giant has announced that it plans to replace its charter fleet that carries components across the ocean with greener, more efficient ships starting in 2026.

We lie in a global economy and that's true even if we're speaking of single companies. In order to gain the proper levels of efficiency, it's common for firms to spread their facilities across continents and even the entire globe.

It's partly for this reason that Airbus maintains its own fleet of three chartered vessels, which ferry aircraft subassemblies across the Atlantic Ocean from Saint-Nazaire, France, to the company's single-aisle aircraft final assembly line in Mobile, Alabama. With A320 production expected to rise to 75 aircraft per month by 2026, that adds up to a hefty carbon footprint.

To combat this, Airbus has commissioned shipowner Louis Dreyfus Armateurs to build three new low-emission roll-on/roll-off ships that Airbus will lease, but Louis Dreyfus Armateurs will own and operate.

言わずもがな、UFOの件です。

ちょっと覗いてみてください。

AN expert has offered a theory regarding a cube-shaped object a pilot caught on camera flying through the air.

The pilot was flying an Airbus A320 over Colombia when the object appeared.

A short video posted to the History Channel's YouTube page showed the footage.

The video, captured in February 2020, was taken by a pilot in flight.

His plane was flying at about 30,000 feet when he noticed a cube-shaped object.

The pilot pointed his cell phone at the cockpit window and captured the object entering the frame.

A metallic-looking cube then came whizzing by in a straight line.

It's described in the video as being a "polyhedron of some sort."

"It does seem to be darker in color and not a bright, shining balloon," said MJ Banias, an investigative reporter with The Debrief.

Another expert weighed in, adding that if we were being visited by another civilization, they might send probes first.

"One theory is, if we were visited by another civilization, they might send probes ahead of when they actually come," Amy Eskridge, president at the Institute for Exotic Science said.

However, it remains unclear exactly what the flying object was.

It appeared similar to another recent UFO spotted flying over Florida.

Meanwhile, other footage revealed a possible UFO sighting in Hawaii.
